BREAKING:CORONAVIRUS- PRESIDENT BUHARI OF NIGERIA EXTENDS LOCKDOWN IN LAGOS, OGUN AND ABUJA TILL MONDAY 4TH MAY

PRESIDENT BUHARI

In his much awaited address to the nation, President Buhari has extended the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja for another one week as the government seeks to gradually ease off restrictions originally aimed at curbing the menace of the corona virus pandemic.

The President observed that the one month lock down already implemented has achieved some results noting that the initial projections was that Nigeria will record at least 200 confirmed cases in the first one month following the index case. But the lock down obviously has slowed down the spread as evident in less than 1,200 cases so far confirmed.

He, however, imposed an 8 pm to 6 am curfew nation wide except for movement of essential goods and services and personnel and also ordered a total lock down in Kano state with immediate effect. Recall that Kano state has recorded a surge in deaths though the authorities insist the deaths are not all COVID19 related.

President Buhari also announce a ban on interstate "personal" travels till further directives.
