KANO EMIRATE UPDATE: DETHRONED SANUSI ARRESTED BY SECURITY OPERATIVES, EXILED TO NASARAWA

MUHAMMAD SANUSI II

The dethroned Emir of Kano Muhammad Sanusi II has been arrested by security operatives and

whisked out of Kano state amidst tight security on Monday, March 9.

According to reports, Sanusi has been exiled to Nasarawa state where he is expected to spend the rest

of his life in asylum. It was gathered that the former Central Bank Governor (CBN) was escorted by

security personnel after he was placed under house arrest by a team of officers including DSS, police,
and military.

The state government it would be recalled earlier today explained that it took the decision to remove the traditional ruler over allegations of consistently refusing to abide by instructions given to him.

According to the Secretary to the State Government, Usman Alhaji  , the removal was in line with the recommendation of the Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission which summoned the emir.
In documents obtained by Channels Television and signed by the chairman of the commission, Sanusi was accused of obstructing the investigation of the commission.
The commission had asked the traditional ruler to respond to a petition accusing him of selling lands belonging to the Kano Emirate to the tune of N2 billion.
Sanusi had, however, secured a restriction order from a court to stop the commission from investigating him.
He has been replaced by Aminu Ado Bayero who is now the 15th Emir of Kano.
