The lead actor in the Oscar award-winning movie “Black Panther”, Chadwick Boseman died on Friday after a four-year long battle with colon cancer.
During those four years, he made remarkable strides in the movie industry globally with top rated movies like “Marshall” and “Black Panther”.
He was survived by his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward who he married secretly last year at the peak of his battle with the cancer.

Thunderstorm on Wednesday killed three officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps attached to the Ogun State Sector Command.
The officials were allegedly struck to death at their office located at the Old Ilese Tollgate in the Ijebu North-East Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred around 10am today when the affected FRSC officials were planning for the early morning parade.
It was gathered that there were over 10 officials at the scene of the incident when the thunderstorm struck.
She said, “So, we were informed. But, my sector commander has just gone there to find out what really happened.
“I cannot give any report until when he comes back to give us details of what really happened.”

Famous Nigerian-based, American radio presenter, Dan Foster is dead.
Foster fondly known as the "Big Dawg" died from complications related to COVID-19 today, June 17, 2020. He was easily one of Nigeria’s finest radio presenters.
He worked in the US at the Cathy Hughes Radio One and Mix 106.5. He started his career in Nigeria in the year 2000 at Cool F.M before going on to Inspiration F.M and later City F.M in 2014. The last radio station he worked with is Classic F.M.
His TV stint saw him work as a judge on Idols West Africa alongside Dede Mabiaku and Nigeria Got Talent with Kate Henshaw.
He attended the Morgan State University where he studied Broadcasting and Drama after spending some time in the US Marines.
He is survived by his widow, Lovina Foster nee Okpara (a Nigerian) and his three children.
Police arrested Leon Rosby, 52, near the scene of the SWAT stand-off in Hawthorne, about 15 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles. Rosby was walking his Rottweiler, Max, and recording the stand-off with armed robbers on his cell phone camera.
"I never meant my dog to be killed and shot like that," Rosby said later. "He wasn't just shot. He was executed."
A statement from the Hawthorne Police Department detailed his alleged interference: "This interference included loud, distracting music (from the individual's vehicle), and his intentional walking within close proximity to armed officers, while holding an 80-pound Rottweiler on a long leash-line," the statement said.
A full autopsy of George Floyd, who died after being
handcuffed and restrained by Minneapolis police, has revealed that he had
tested positive for COVID-19.
The 20-page report, which was released by the Hennepin
County Medical Examiner’s Office, came with the family’s permission – and after
the coroner’s office released summary findings on Monday that Floyd had a heart
attack while being restrained by officers, and classified his May 25 death as a
homicide.
The report by Chief Medical Examiner Andrew Baker spelled
out clinical details, including that Floyd had tested positive for COVID-19 on
April 3 but appeared asymptomatic. The report also noted Floyd’s lungs appeared
healthy but he had some narrowing of arteries in the heart.
The county’s earlier summary report listed fentanyl
intoxication and recent methamphetamine use under “other significant
conditions” but not under “cause of death.”
The full report’s footnotes noted that signs of fentanyl
toxicity can include “severe respiratory depression” and seizures.
The revelations come as US President Donald Trump fought
back after his former Pentagon chief Jim Mattis issued a stinging condemnation
of his erstwhile boss, accusing the president of trying to “divide” America.
Mr Trump tweeted that he was “the world’s most overrated
General”.
“Probably the only thing Barack Obama & I have in
common is that we both had the honor of firing Jim Mattis, the world’s most
overrated General,” he tweeted.
“I asked for his letter of resignation, & felt great
about it. His nickname was “Chaos”, which I didn’t like, & changed to “Mad
Dog.”
In a second tweet, he went on to say: “His primary strength
was not military, but rather personal public relations.
“I gave him a new life, things to do, and battles to win,
but he seldom ‘brought home the bacon’.
“I didn’t like his ‘leadership’ style or much else about
him, and many others agree. Glad he is gone!”
Mr Trump’s tweets were triggered by a statement Mattis
wrote that was posted online by The Atlantic.
“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who
does not try to unite the American people — does not even pretend to try,”
Mattis said.
“Instead, he tries to divide us,” continues the retired
Marine general, who had previously argued it would be inappropriate for him to
criticise a sitting president.
“We must reject any thinking of our cities as a
“battlespace” that our uniformed military is called upon to “dominate.”

General Mattis – nicknamed “Mad Dog” served as Defence
Secretary from the beginning of the Trump administration until January 2019.
He was replaced by Mark Esper, who has also distanced
himself from the President’s threats to use the full force of the military to
quell street protests around the country, emphatically arguing against invoking
the two-centuries-old Insurrection Act, which would allow Mr Trump to use active-duty
troops in a law enforcement role.
The possibility of using the Insurrection Act, which has
not been invoked since the 1992 rioting in Los Angeles, had been discussed in
the White House but never explicitly proposed publicly by Mr Trump.

Some of the leading names in the music industry are participating in “Blackout Tuesday” amid calls for change in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
Protests erupted around the US after a video emerged showing a white Minnesota police officer kneeling on Floyd’s neck for nine minutes during an arrest in Minneapolis.
In solidarity with the black community, members of the global music industry have pledged “a day to disconnect from work and reconnect with our community” under the hashtag #THESHOWMUSTBEPAUSED.
Columbia Records chairman Ron Perry posted last week: “We stand together with the Black community against all forms of racism, bigotry, and violence. Now, more than ever we must use our voices to speak up and challenge the injustices all around us.”

Beyoncé filmed an Instagram video urging fans to sign a petition seeking “justice for George Floyd”.
“We all witnessed his murder in broad daylight…We're broken and we're disgusted,” she said. “We cannot normalise this pain”.
Stars including J Cole, Tinashe, Nick Cannon, Ariana Grande and Halsey were among those to join protestors across the US over the weekend.
Music mogul Jay-Z has been speaking directly with Minnesota governor Tim Walz as part of his fight for justice.

The rapper and producer issued a statement about the phone call with Walz via his label Roc Nation’s official Twitter account, in which he thanked Walz for bringing attorney general Keith Ellison on to take over the case.
“Earlier today, Governor Walz mentioned having a human conversation with me – a dad and a black man in pain,” he wrote.
“Yes, I am human, a father and a black man in pain and I am not the only one. This is just a first step. I am more determined to fight for justice than any fight my would-be oppressors may have.”
Jay-Z also urged politicians to “do the right thing and prosecute all those responsible for the murder of George Floyd to the fullest extent of the law”.

A 100 level student of the University of Benin, UNIBEN from
the department of Microbiology, faculty of Life Sciences, Miss Vera Uwaila
Omozuwa, has reportedly been raped and killed inside a church in Edo state.
The 22-year-old victim was said to have been raped on
Friday 29th May near Ikpoba Hill in Benin City, at her church, the Redeemed
Christian Church of God (RCCG).
According to reports gathered, the deceased had gone to the
church to read as she prepared for the possible school resumption after months
of staying at home as a result of the lockdown order.
The perpetrators were said to have attacked her at the RCCG
Ohovbe road branch, raped and smashed her head with a fire extinguisher,
leaving her for dead.
Miss Vera was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching
Hospital (UBTH), where she battled for her dear life at the Intensive Care Unit
(ICU).
She, however, gave up the ghost Saturday midnight, May 30,
following excess loss of blood and deep cuts sustained from the attack.
A family source, who confirmed the development, described
the deceased as “an easy-going somebody (sic).” Her remains had been deposited
at the morgue.
Nigerians have since taken to Twitter, using #JusticeForUwa,
to demand for justice for the fallen student and one of the numerous victims of
rape in the country.

A law enforcement officer has been killed and another injured after they were shot during protests in California over the death of George Floyd.
The shootings took place in the northern Californian city of Oakland after around 7,500 protesters took to the streets in protest at the death of Mr Floyd at the hands of a police officer.
“Two Federal Protective Services officers stationed at the Oakland Down Town Federal Building suffered gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, one succumbed to his injury,” the Oakland police department told CNN.
No suspects have been arrested and an investigation has been launched.
The shootings come as people across America took to the streets for the fifth day in protest against the death of Mr Floyd while in police custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
As well as Minneapolis and Oakland, protests have broken out in New York, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Detroit, Portland and many other cities.
Confrontations have often been violent. A teenager was killed in Detroit after shots were fired on a crowd of people on Friday.
The US army has asked military police units from New York and North Carolina to be on standby to intervene in the protests.
In Washington D.C. protesters reportedly stayed out all night outside the White House, while the Secret Service - the President's bodyguards - stood guard.
Donald Trump said that if protesters had got through the guards, they would have been attacked by "vicious dogs" and "ominous weapons".
He tweeted: "They were not only totally professional, but very cool. I was inside, watched every move, and couldn’t have felt more safe.
"They let the 'protesters' scream & rant as much as they wanted, but whenever someone got too frisky or out of line, they would quickly come down on them, hard – didn’t know what hit them."

Derek Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter and fired from the police after he was filmed kneeling on Mr Floyd's neck for at least eight minutes while arresting him for allegedly using a counterfeit bank note.

Taylor Swift is one of the many celebrities who recently spoke out against President Donald Trump regarding his tweet about the riots and protesters in Minneapolis, Minn. over the death of George Floyd.
The 30-year-old singer-songwriter slammed Trump for using violent rhetoric on Twitter Thursday night. He suggested that police shoot anyone who loots.
Trump said, "These THUGS are dishonouring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!"
Swift responded, “After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? ‘When the looting starts the shooting starts’??? We will vote you out in November. @realdonaldtrump."
Floyd was a 46-year-old black man who died in police custody on Monday after a white Minneapolis police officer responding to a call kept kneeling on his neck. In a now-viral video, Floyd can be heard telling the cop, "I can't breathe."
The four officers involved in the incident have been fired and Derek Chauvin, the officer who had his knee on Floyd's neck, has been taken in custody.
Many celebrities have taken to social media to speak out against police brutality and mourn Floyd's death.
Rapper Cardi B wrote, "Enough is enough! What will it take ? A civil war ? A new president? Violent riots ? It’s tired ! I’m tired !" she wrote. "The country is tired !You don’t put fear in people when you do this you just show how coward YOU ARE ! And how America is really not the land of the free !"
Actress Tracee Ellis Ross wrote, "You should be alive."
Justin Bieber said, "THIS MUST STOP. this makes me absolutely sick. This makes me angry this man DIED. This makes me sad. Racism is evil We need to use our voice! Please people. I’m sorry GEORGE FLOYD."
Kylie Jenner posted the following message: "Since watching the most devastating and completely heartbreaking video showing the murder of George Floyd earlier this week I haven’t been able to get his face and his words out of my mind. i’ll never personally experience the pain and fear that many black people around the country go through every day but i know nobody should have to live in fear and nobody deserves a death like George Floyd and too many others."
Actress Zoe Kravitz said, "My heart breaks for you and your family. #policebrutality needs to stop."
Schitt's Creek actor Dan Levy also condemned Trump and echoed Swift's call to "vote him out."
"The President of the United States got censored for “glorifying violence” against black people seeking justice for their lives and safety. In 2020. In “the land of the free”. This is not leadership. This an abuse of power.

Former President Barack Obama put out a statement on George Floyd, a black man who died after being pinned down by police in Minneapolis.
"This shouldn't be 'normal' in 2020 America," he wrote. "It can't be 'normal.' If we want our children to grow up in a nation that lives up to its highest ideals, we can and must be better."
Obama said this in reference to the point that many people in America would like life to go back to "normal" in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. But, he wrote, "being treated differently on account of race is tragically, painfully, maddeningly 'normal'" for millions of Americans.

This difference, he wrote, comes "whether it's while dealing with the health care system, or interacting with the criminal justice system, or jogging down the street, or just watching birds in the park." Those last two points seemingly reference Ahmaud Arbery, a 25-year-old black man who was shot and killed by two white men while on a jog in Georgia in February, and an incident in New York City's Central Park this week in which a white woman called the police on a black man who asked her to leash her dog.
Floyd died after being apprehended by police Monday for using a fake 20 dollar bill at an eatery, Cup Foods. The staff of Cup Foods who identified the fake bill called the police and when they got there Floyd was still outside the eatery. A video that went viral shows an officer pinning his knee to Floyd's neck as he is on the ground, saying, "I can't breathe." The four officers involved have been fired, and investigations are ongoing. The officer who had his knee on Floyd's neck was identified as Derek Chauvin and has been charged with 3rd degree murder and 2nd degree manslaughter.
His death in police custody has led to outrage across the nation and protests in many cities, including in Minneapolis, where violence has broken out over several nights this week.
In the statement that he posted to social media Friday, the former president also referenced conversations he has "had with friends over the past couple days about the footage of George Floyd dying face down on the street under the knee of a police officer in Minnesota."
These conversations included an email from "a middle-aged African American businessman" who wrote, "'the knee on the neck' is a metaphor for how the system so cavalierly holds black folks down, ignoring the cries for help."

He also referenced a video of 12-year-old Keedron Bryant singing a gospel song with lyrics written by his mother about being a young black man in America, and wrote that Keedron and Obama's friend share the same "anguish," as do Obama himself and "millions of others."
Ultimately, Obama wrote, it is up to officials in Minnesota to thoroughly investigate and seek justice for Floyd's death. But, he wrote, it is up to everyone "to work together to create a 'new normal' in which the legacy of bigotry and unequal treatment no longer infects our institutions or our hearts."

President Donald Trump said Thursday that he has not spoken to Floyd's family, but that he feels "very, very badly" and that what he saw in the video of Floyd's death "was not good, very bad." Attorney General Bill Barr and Trump are monitoring a Department of Justice investigation, according to officials.
On Friday morning, the president tweeted about the protests in Minneapolis, saying that "thugs are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd" and, referencing the military, that "when the looting starts, the shooting starts." This tweet was flagged by the social media platform as "glorifying violence."

A young man identified as Kelvin Rhima has committed
suicide at Modinatu Street in Ogba area of Lagos State. The lifeless body of
Kevin who works with a new generation bank was found dangling from a ceiling
fan in his mini apartment by neighbours at about 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
It was gathered that neighbours became worried on Tuesday
evening when they noticed that Kevin hasn’t been outside since morning.
Unfortunately, when they looked through the window, they found his body hanging
on the ceiling fan.
Immediately after the discovery, they invited policemen to
break into the apartment. According to a neighbor, Barry Olarenwaju, “Kelvin
was a calm person so we didn’t notice on time. When we didn’t see him outside
on Tuesday morning, we felt that was his lifestyle, that he was sleeping
inside, but when it was an evening we got worried because there was no padlock
at his entrance to indicate that he had gone out.
“When we tried to open the door, it was locked from inside
that was when we began to bang on the door. By the time we went to the window,
we saw him dangling and his tongue sticking out. From the look of things it was
obvious that it was on Monday he died because the body had begun to bloat”.
Another tenant in the building who spoke on the condition of
anonymity said immediately we discovered the body, we raised the alarm, it was
a battle before the police came to the scene to access the situation.
“We went to Area G on Tuesday night to inform them about
the situation they asked us to go to Pen Cinema division, which we did.
Ironically, when the police came, they wanted to detain all the tenants, we had
to pay N2,000 each so that we won’t be implicated in a matter we don’t know
anything about. After which they still abandoned the body with the excuse that
the mortuary was filled up. They only snapped pictures.”
It was gathered that policemen from Pen-cinema who came to
the compound to access the scene saw the suicide note that he wrote and
addressed to his father and girlfriend.
Meanwhile, Nigerians on Twitter yesterday tried desperately
to get through to a man, with the Twitter handle @EmmilyEmmanuel, who tweeted a
suicidal note on the platform. Yesterday morning, the Twitter user said he is
tired and cannot “push again”. He asked people to tell his mum that he loves
her as he revealed his plans to take his life.
He wrote: “Death is knocking at my door. I will miss
everyone and everything here. Twitter has been fun to me since I joined. I
didn’t have the courage to push through last year. But I do now. If you are
seeing this, tell my Mama, I Love her but I couldn’t push again.”
