POOR SECURITY AT NIGERIA'S MAIN ENTRY AIRPORT UNDERLINED BY THE BEATING OF STAFF OF AILING ARIK AIR BY IRATE PASSENGERS

The video below allegedly showing a staff of Nigerian privately owned ailing Arik Airline being mobbed by angry and dissatisfied passengers which has been making the rounds on the internet is to say the least pathetic.

It has really exposed the level of insecurity at this very important airport - Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos - which happens to be one of the busiest in Africa. It is quite surprising that a fight could even break out in a place like this not to talk of the fight being sustained for more than a minute without security personnel breaking it up immediately and making some arrests no matter the grievances of the parties involved.

In the video the staff could be seen being chased even beyond the point that is out of bounds for people who are not travelling! It is almost impossible that such incidents could occur in other airports around the world.

It will also be interesting to see if under the same circumstances the "irate passengers" will tow the same line with a foreign airline.
