RED ALERT: APC WANTS ABIA STATE BY ALL MEANS!

Ogah receives certificate from INEC

There are strong indications that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) wants to perform the same magic they performed in several states and Kogi state in particular again. This time it's happening in Abia State where the governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has been asked to vacate his mandate and Mr. Uche Ogah who did not contest in the main election has been given the certificate of return to replace him. The electoral body INEC issued the certificate in disregard of the appeal filed on behalf of the governor by his counsels and the stay of execution granted by the appeal court pending the determination of the appeal. While briefing the press after issuing the certificate the INEC national commissioner in charge of the south east, Amb. Lawrence Nwuruku said the commission only obeyed lawful order of a court. Nwuruku added that as a citizen, he could go to jail if he flouts a valid court order. He said if the court tomorrow orders a reversal of the action, INEC would not hesitate to do its bidding. “The situation is that we are simply obeying the court order. The court said with immediate effect without wasting of time, we should issue him Certificate of Return and that is what we have done – to obey the court order. If the court tomorrow issues another order, we would obey the same. By the grace of God, I am the INEC Commissioner in charge of South East. I’ll do the same thing if the court orders us to do so. If court says we should issue the same certificate to another person. In this case, court ordered us to issue a Certificate of Return to the person who won the election and that is Uche Ogah. I was the person who gave the Certificate of Return to Gov. Ikpeazu as he was declared winner".

Governor Ikpeazu

The question now is which election did Uche Ogah win that INEC and the Federal High Court are referring to? Is it the primaries which he lost or the main election which he did not contest by virtue of the first loss? Moreover the electoral law is very clear on this. You have to contest the main election not just the primaries to be able to lay any claim to the position contested for.It is very clear and obvious that powers that be (and many are sure its the ruling APC) are secretly pushing the man from behind the scene while using our corrupt legal system as a willing tool and making it appear to be a PDP crisis. It is believed that once this is achieved the man will immediately cross-carpet to APC to pay back his sponsors as is typical of Nigerian politics.

Uche Ogah

As we write efforts are being made by the Uche Ogah camp to have him sworn in but this has been scuttled by another court injunction which has forbidden the Chief Judge or any Judge in the federation from carrying out the exercise pending the determination of the appeal.
