66 KILLED BY GUNMEN IN FRESH KADUNA VIOLENCE


The Kaduna state government, Friday evening, disclosed that 66 persons were killed by unknown gunmen in Kajuru local government of Kaduna state, less than twenty four hours to the conduct of the now postponed presidential and parliamentary elections.




A statement issued by the spokesman to the governor of Kaduna state, Samuel Aruwan, said already, security agencies are on the trail of the assailants. The statement however did not provide details about where or how the incidence happened but said among the victims were 22 children and 12 women.




The state governor, Nasiru El Rufai who recently threatened to have foreign election observers who interfere in the Nigerian Elections "leave in body bags" thereby eliciting a world wide outcry certainly has his hands full now from this internal crisis and the world is watching to see how he will handle this.

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) early this morning announced the postponement of the General Elections by one week. This according to him is to enable the body "address identified challenges in order to maintain the quality of our elections"
